Lost or Stolen Car Key Replacement

Whether you have lost or had your car keys stolen, simply call ASL Dorset Locksmiths rather than a main dealer. Main dealers will require your vehicle to be recovered to their premises, expecting you to cover the cost. You may also have to wait several weeks for your replacement keys to arrive from overseas. We on the other hand will come to you, gain entry to your vehicle and immobiliser system, and then cut new keys and enable them with a new code. Broken Car Key Repair or Replacement

Broken car keys are a rare occurrence nowadays but can happen. Stressed metal or badly worn out car keys can snap or no longer work in the car door or ignition. At ASL Dorset Locksmiths we have the training and technology to perform a broken car key repair. We can duplicate a replacement vehicle key for nearly any vehicle.

Broken Key Extraction from Locks

If your key has snapped in the ignition or car door, ASL Dorset Locksmiths can remove the snapped key from the lock and replace your key. If your car contains an immobiliser we can replace the transponder chip from your snapped key into your new replacement car key.

Spare Car Key / Car Key Duplication

It always helps to have a spare car key either for another driver or in an emergency. If you have at least one key it is easy for ASL Dorset Locksmiths to re-key or cut a duplicate replacement car key for you. You may find if you purchased a used car it may only come with one key. Contacting a Main Dealer to get spare keys for the used car may take weeks to arrive with a sizable price tag. Vehicle Entry and Key Retrieval

At ASL Dorset Locksmiths we use non destructive and approved methods to gain access to your vehicle and retrieve the car key locked in your car. For most vehicles we gain entry by picking one of the locks. This is a skilled technique achieved with specialist vehicle specific lock picks. On some more basic cars we maybe able to insert a long reach tool through the rim of the door to grab keys or press the unlock button on the key fob. A large majority of cars will still have manual wind down windows in the back. In the majority of these cases we will use a cleverly designed lever rod to grab the handle and lower the cars window, allowing access to the keys.

Remote Central Locking and Transponder Programming and Repair

Almost all cars use a central locking system operated by remote control, with the car remote fobs usually being very reliable, lasting years without issue. However remote fobs can stop working, which most commonly requires a replacement battery. On occasions, the entire fob requires replacing. These batteries or remote keys are easily replaced with new ones which can be pre-programmed by us.
A broken or lost transponder car key will result in the vehicle not starting upon turning the key in the ignition. When a transponder key stops working it will require a new one. Some motorists also order and keep additional spare transponder keys to use should their existing key fail. Both replacement and programming transponders are simple tasks for us at ASL Dorset Locksmiths, and substantially cheaper than main dealers.

ECU Programming and Immobiliser Work

In conjunction with Transponder repair and replacements, we can undertake any necessary work on vehicle’s ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and ICU (Immobiliser Control Unit). This results in a huge savings, rather than replacing these units.
